Emily Carr University
Emily Carr University (ECU) is a world leader in art, media and design. Merging studio practice, research and critical theory in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment, ECU encourages experimentation at the intersections of art, design, media and technology. ECU is ranked as the top university in Canada for art and design, and 24th in the world. The ECU Health Design Lab uses participatory design methods to catalyze, support and amplify initiatives that address complex health challenges. In partnership with PMH and in collaboration with project participants, they aim to identify and understand older adults’ mental health priorities with the project: Mental Health: a Creative Collaboration.
Oxford Institute of Population Ageing
University of Oxford
The Oxford Institute of Population Ageing was established in 1998 and achieved Institute status in 2001 to establish the UK’s first population centre on the demography and economics of ageing populations. The aim of the institute is to undertake research into the implications of population change. A multidisciplinary group, the institute’s main disciplinary focus is demography with links into all four University Divisions at Oxford University. Their researchers work in Canada, Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe and run the Population Networks AFRAN (Africa), LARNA (Latin America), and EAST (Central and Eastern Europe).

AGE-WELL is a unique Canadian network that brings everyone together to develop technologies and services for healthy aging. AGE-WELL is also training the next generation of innovators in this field, and making Canada a world leader in technologies that help aging populations everywhere.
OA-INVOLVE
OA-INVOLVE is one of the integral projects within AGE-WELL, Technology and Aging Network. It was created with the mission to establish models of best practice for the active involvement of older adults in aging and technology projects to support technology development that is trans-disciplinary and ‘fit for purpose’ for improving the independence, health, wellbeing and quality of life of older adults.
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH) is responsible for the delivery of $4.1 billion in community, hospital and long-term care services to more than one million people in communities including Richmond, Vancouver, the North Shore, Sunshine Coast, Sea to Sky corridor, Powell River, Bella Bella and Bella Coola. VCH also provides specialized care and services for people throughout BC and is the province’s hub of health care education and research.
Fraser Health Authority
Fraser Health is responsible for the delivery of hospital and community-based health services to over 1.9 million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations, and is home to six Métis Chartered Communities. West End Seniors’ Network
The West End Seniors’ Network has been a registered charity since 1984 with the mission to enhance the quality of life of older adults by providing social, recreational, educational and supportive programs and services that foster connection and inclusion in the broader community.
411 Seniors
411 Seniors is a community-oriented centre committed to enhancing the quality of life of older adults in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Engaged with the local community and 11 committees strong, their mission is to provide senior-led programs and services that mobilize older adults’ strengths, talents, interest and expertise in collaboration with other seniors’ organizations to benefit older adults and the community at large.
South Granville Seniors Centre
South Granville Seniors Centre mission is to provide programs and services to promote healthy and independent lifestyles for seniors in the South Granville and Fairview neighbourhoods and surrounding communities in Vancouver, BC. It currently offers a variety of programs ranging from food, fitness and language instruction to tablet-lending, digital literacy and pages of useful information and referral resources for seniors.
Langley Senior Resources Society
A not-for-profit organization and registered charity, the Langley Senior Resources Society (LSRS) has been delivering social, recreational and educational programs and food, health and social services to older adults in Langley since 1982. It is led by a volunteer Board of Directors who live in the local community and funded by numerous diverse sources including the City of Langley, the Township of Langley, the Government of Canada, the BC Government, Fraser Health and the United Way.
Marpole Oakridge Family Place
Marpole Oakridge Family Place is a not-for-profit in collaboration with the South Vancouver Seniors Network (SVSN) and Marpole and South Vancouver community organisations. Their mission is to foster strong family connections within an inclusive community, and to act as a hub, connecting families, children, and seniors, providing helpful resources and interactive education serving seniors and caregivers. Bringing together many centres with similar objectives, the SVSN strengthens communications, collaborations, and initiatives that support seniors.
United Way Lower Mainland
The United Way Lower Mainland (UWLM) sees activity, connection and engagement as keys to seniors’ health and wellness. Focused on a healthy, caring and inclusive community, UWLM helps older adults stay independent in their homes and communities.
Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House
Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (MPNH) offers programs for seniors at MPNH that are designed to celebrate our elders, enrich their lives, and support them so they can continue to enjoy independent lifestyles while engaging with their community.
Kitsilano Neighbourhood House
Kits House is a registered non-profit, charity organization dedicated to providing an opportunity for everybody in Kitsilano and nearby communities to get together and be engaged. Programs include Better at Home, (in partnership with UWLM); Safe Seniors, Strong Communities (delivery services to enable seniors to access everything they need while remaining safe, connected and engaged); and the new 55 and Better 55-64, that helps young seniors with light housekeeping to support them in living independently at home while remaining connected to the community.
Age Knowble
Age Knowble was founded by Margaret Young in 2019. The social enterprise empowers older people and strengthens the ecosystems they need to live secure and thriving lives.Age Knowble believe that by amplifying the voices of older people, engaging their lived experiences in the system design, and collaborating across sectors, we will have a world where the older persons live and age without boundaries.
BC Association of Community Response Networks (BC CRN)
The Community Response Network (CRN) is made up of a diverse group of concerned community members, community agencies, local businesses, government agencies, professionals, and others who come together to create a coordinated community response to abuse, neglect, and self-neglect in vulnerable adults. When the community cannot provide appropriate support to the adult, the Adult Guardianship Act provides designated agencies (Health Authorities and Community Living BC) with the responsibility of investigating and ensuring that the proper action is undertaken.
CRNs around the province are reaching out to their communities to join the network and work to raise the awareness of abuse, neglect, and self-neglect in vulnerable adults, and to ultimately prevent it from happening.
Seniors First BC
Seniors First BC Society (SFBC) is a charitable, non-profit society that provides information, legal advocacy, and support to older adults across BC who are dealing with issues affecting their well-being. SFBC provides assistance through 6 programs: the Seniors Abuse Information Line (SAIL), Victim Services Program, Education and Outreach Program, Elder Law Clinic, Legal Advocacy Program, and the Advance Planning Clinic Program.
Westside Seniors Hub
The Westside Seniors Hub is an initiative that brings together local seniors and senior-serving organizations to ensure that Vancouver Westside communities are places where seniors can thrive. It strives to provide an informational 'hub' that enhances awareness of local programs and services. It provides leadership in identifying gaps in service delivery and generates community support for seniors' issues.
